Well, as much as we like to be on top of every release as quickly as we can, sometimes we just miss stuff. If it's good, we'll post it, of course, and that's because there's nothing worse that forgoing music that ought to be heard. Trust us when we say that the creator of "Unbound", New Zealand's MAALA, has a debut project here that ought to be heard. The track that we mentioned above was our introduction to the wonderfully underrated artist, and, truthfully, the fact that subsequent works from him did not get the buzz that that did is a crime. Every single track on the debut is of standout quality (we'll never grow tired of saying how rare that is), and, from the driving, overarching nature of "In The Air", to the more stylish-sounding "Higher", to the utterly mature "Magic", MAALA becomes a rather invincible body of work.
