We just featured Lil Silva's latest single here a couple days ago, but the EP it was designed to precede is already here, so it looks like you're going to be getting even more of TJ Carter's (Lil Silva) mind-bending music to enjoy on your HD playlists. It's no secret that Lil Silva is quite an accomplished producer and songwriter, so the high quality music you'll find on the EP isn't really a surprise, but even so, we've found ourselves quite enamored with what the guy was able to accomplish with just five tracks. The major headline grabbers on the EP will definitely be the two BANKS features, and of those two, we already featured (and linked above) "Don't You Love", so it looks like "Right For you" is going to get most of the spotlight for this project. Don't let that dissuade you from listening to the rest of the project, though. Songs like "Kimmy" and "Mabel" will hold their own against a high-powered feature any day, and Lil Silva's brand is starting to pick up some steam, so there's no reason why you can't enjoy what he was able to accomplish all by himself. "Kimmy" is only about two minutes long, but though it's the shortest song on the EP, it may actually be the most powerful. The soul and hip-hop influences on the track are displayed loud and proud, and the vocals have a ghostly quality to them that opens up the track well, but the real draw for "Kimmy" is in the second minute. Almost all of the top-end sound drops off, and what you're left with is a gut punch of a bassline that will stick with you long after it ends. In fact, we really wish this one was a little more developed, because we can't get enough of it (or maybe that's what makes it so special). Fortunately, replay buttons are a thing, so we'll just have to content ourselves with running it over a couple more times than usual to get our fix. "Right For You" is the second of two BANKS features, and we're digging it. Silva and the songstress seem to go together exceptionally well, and this second track of theirs is the perfect way to close out the EP. BANKS' voice has a depth to it that stands up well to Lil Silva's very heavy production work, and, where other vocalists would get drowned out by the fuzzy bass and deep synths, BANKS cuts through with her big range and powerful vocals. These two have been working together for some time now, so they've already a proven artistic formula, but even though the success of this track comes as no surprise, it's cool to see two artists of their ilk grow in popularity and still manage to work together on a consistent basis. Mabel is Lil Silva's second EP, and with the aforementioned "Mabel", "Kimmy", and BANKS-assisted cuts, the man is not only showing exponential growth with his craft, but quickly becoming an HD favorite as well.
