Lia Ices is an act we've never covered before, but it's about time that we did, because it's very clear that she's absolutely oozing talent. As a member of the widely acclaimed Jagjagwuar label, Lia already has a full-length album set to be released on September 16th. Her sonic style stems mostly from a collaboration between her and her brother, Eliot, but on her new album, Ices, she allies with the widely revered Clams Casino for a number of tracks, with this occurrence having the ability to create a totally distinct sound. For now, though, she's dropped off "Thousand Eyes" to promote her album, and it would be a severe understatement to say that the track has got us interested in the upcoming work. Lia's sound can be described in a countless number of ways, mostly because it's so extraordinarily eclectic. Influences in "Thousand Eyes" range from throwback pop, to electronic, and there are certainly traces of other genres as well. The base of the track is formed by somewhat poppy synths alongside boxy bass and unusual percussion, featuring bongos, slaps, and shakers, and a guitar strum stays consistent in the effort. Slight slight electronic bits vary throughout, also, and an Eastern-sounding instrument calls out an alluring melody during the chorus. Lia's vocals on it deviate pretty far from the norm, existing somewhere on the border of the pop spectrum, but still possessing a certain authenticity that makes them hard to pinpoint. We continue to be amazed by the innovative sounds that cease to halt, and with so many songs coming out each day, it really is incredible that artists continue to create listening experiences previously unexplored. Though we've only heard this release from Lia Ices, its creativity alone has astonished us to the point that we've already marking our calendars for the release of Ices on September 16, and we suggest you to do the same.
