Just because a song contains two pre-existing songs doesn't mean it should be labeled simply as a "mash-up". The mash-up era was short-lived, but we might be seeing an introduction to a new time in which two songs can be mixed and remixed at once (and, in some cases, covered at the same time). Max Liese, a producer from Berlin, offers proof that two songs can still be combined and adapted without being thrown into the vast ocean of other offering within the particular genre. Max Liese's remix of "Hunter", by Lewis, stands out for a few reasons, one of which is being its phenomenal instrumentation. The smooth guitar flows so nicely with the drum kit that you will almost inevitably be addicted to the beat. And while there isn't a shortage of remixes to Jay-Z's "99 Problems", it's safe to say that his verse hasn't ever been placed in the setting that Max Liese positions it; Hov's rhymes are set amidst Lewis' vocals and over a mellow guitar beat, which is undoubtedly a new and refreshing scene for the verse. The whole remix here is a dandy, and we hope Max Liese is able to help champion a new age of "remix-ups".
