Leon Bridges is a peculiar case in music currently. His debut studio album, Coming Home, brilliantly reproduced gospel and soul sounds of the past, but it's been clear that he would need to make some changes to remain exciting. Now, almost three years later, we're getting our first taste of his new material, and it proves beyond a doubt that Bridges has progressed in a fantastic way, indeed. There are two fantastic new singles here to digest: first, a heart-wrenching, string-packed R&B effort titled "Bet Ain't Worth The Hand", and, next, a groovy, jazz-inspired piece titled "Bad Bad News". We are very pleased with the polished but still authentic tracks Bridges offers here, and we'll be awaiting the release of his upcoming sophomore project, Good Thing, due May 4 through Colombia Records.
