Leo Kalyan is one of the most intriguing acts within the new wave of R&B, and more specifically, within the emerging movement in the UK. We've been keeping our eye on the singer-producer for about a year now, and he's been blowing us away with each release, most recently through the dark, tranquil sounds of "Breathe", a track that he dropped off just a month ago. However, he embraces a slightly different sound on his third original release, "Over You", though, still astonishes all the same. We notice immediately that "Over You" has a faster tempo than his aforementioned song, and this fact foreshadows the song's upbeat, yet smooth feel. Here is where many artists would simply retreat to a typical house beat (and there's nothing wrong with that), but Kalyan decides to branch off in his own direction by using stripped-down, strategically placed percussion underneath an array of silky synths. And while the piece's production is phenomenal, his seductive serenade really steals the show, as he vocally glides atop the instrumental on a remarkable level. While we greatly enjoyed Leo Kalyan's previous releases, "Over You" is a track that has solidified him as an artist that we're absolutely thrilled to hear more from. He's firmly established his exceptional vocal and productional talent, and now, we're seeing that his appeal could be extraordinarily widespread. If you have any doubts about Kalyan's potential, though (and you shouldn't), he's made mention that he worked with up-and-comers Karma Kid and MNEK on "Over You", so while you listen, allow the piece to further your perception of his promise.
