LEISURE is one of those bands that just never misses the mark. From the infectious groove of "Got It Bad", to the downtempo charm of "All Over You", every one of the eight tracks the New Zealand five-piece released over the past year and a half has been nothing short of excellent. Now, all of their work has finally culminated in one coherent body: their self-titled, self-released debut. Though there's plenty of great music coming out all the time, none of it is quite like LEISURE's here. The band has built their distinct identity by focusing primarily on strong songwriting and crisp instrumentation without ever appearing to feel the need to appeal to any sort of audience. Their emphasis on the music, rather than any other factors, shines through the project from start to finish, and, for that reason, LEISURE is undoubtedly one of our favorite albums of the year.
