Have you ever had the experience of listening to a song for the first time that somehow inexplicably captures the exact moment you are currently living in? It's like a queer cosmic synergy, fusing melody with your current condition as part of some omnipotent scheme, and I was immersed in such an experience this morning as I was introduced to "Often It's You", the incredible new single by young Melbourne producer Leaks. The entire experience of dragging myself and a head a still a little foggy from the night before out of bed, all the while battling the grasp of sleep inertia, was encompassed spectacularly by the six minutes of electronic bliss. It has been argued that all great art it is merely a canvas upon which you project what you want to see, and perhaps I am doing just that with this track. Regardless, the ability for the audience to intimately connect with a song is a testament to what great artists like Leaks can accomplish.
