We posted LEA SANTEE's first two tracks when they appeared eight months ago, and we were absolutely sure that with them, enough buzz would be generated to make subsequent efforts commence. Well, it appears that that's indeed been the case, and with tens of thousands of plays behind them now, the Viennese duo has a debut EP awaiting release. To prepare for what's sure to be a great body of tracks, Lea Stöger (vocals) and Manuel Hosp (production) are sharing its first single, "Hopeless", today. We're drawn to "Hopeless" for a lot of reasons, and we love especially how quickly and confidently it starts out with its cool electronic air. It doesn't take long for Lea's vocals to enter the mix, either, and that's a very good thing considering it's one bordering on iconic. Her inflection is one we've raved about before, and she wields it here on the new effort flawlessly. Of course, Manuel's complementary production cannot be forgotten; it fluctuates sensibly in intensity to match Lea's tone, and really, it would stand out well on it's own without a voice working specially atop it. Nevertheless, it's a wonderful thing that these two have found each other and decided to work together, because their sound is one that doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. Look for Set this Fire to be out soon (that's the name of their looming EP), and stew excitedly on the great sonic concoction that is "Hopeless" while you wait.
