As we are continually fed with amazing new music on the daily, our appetite for music that sounds different from the rest continually grows. There's really nothing like remembering the first time you heard your favorite new band or fell in love with a genre, and we urge you to keep that fact in mind when as prepare to listen to this Brisbane duo's debut single, "Rainmaker". Laurasia is the boy-girl pair of Nathan Morrison (production) and Jessica Wigglesworth (vocals), and though they aren't providing the world with much information yet (aside from the city they reside in), their music is providing more than enough to get us interested in them. From the second "Rainmaker" drops in, you will instantly understand that this duo is really onto something here, as the chopped-up, robot-sounding vocal samples used at the beginning of the track are intermittently spaced between simple-patterned drums. With Jessica's glassy vocals in addition, there's a definitive awe-inducing sense that transpires, and it really sets the stage for the rest of the track, because when the chorus drops in, the script is flipped, and still, the track continues to evolve. We've heard many debuts from obscure bands in 2014, and Laurasia's is easily one of the best we've come across this year. As it stands right now, the two look to be completely independent, but we can almost guarantee that after this track makes its way around the internet, that won't remain for long.
