As there's so much innovative music constantly streaming into our collective attention span, it takes something really special to actually shock the music world itself, but Laura Doggett completed this hefty task through her breathtaking debut track, "Phoenix", which has already chalked up over one hundred thousand SoundCloud plays in just a month and a half. Now, of course it helps to have some ingenious production from the gifted mind of SOHN, but Doggett's vocals are undoubtedly of a breed that we haven't heard anytime in recency, and they've left us absolutely thrilled to see what her next move will be. Unfortunately, we aren't getting any new material from the London-based songstress today (we know, we're sorry), but what we are being given is another reason to listen to her powerful vocals, thanks to a fresh electronic twist from Brighton producer Eagles For Hands. One must be incredibly cautious when handling a remix of a song as delicate and unique as "Phoenix", and Eagles For Hands has made sure to take this into consideration, as he places appropriate emphasis on Doggett's pitch-shifted vocals while also building the song skillfully. He gradually throws in some fresh percussive elements, and, as the song progresses, cleverly contributes more and more components, including some impressive vocal chops, swelling synths, and deep soundscapes.
