As we've alluded to many times before, Australia is finding itself amid a golden age for downtempo electronic. So far this year, we've underwent an assault of incredible releases from upcoming Aussie acts such as Hayden Calnin, Fractures and Wyatt, and many, many others. June saw an addition to this esteemed lineup, as Melbourne artist Will Cuming (LANKS) dropped his debut EP, Thousand Piece Puzzle, and with the stamped ink barely dried on his homemade physical copies of the work, he's back with a brand-new single that we are ecstatic to premiere to the world today. In a recent interview with Triple J Unearthed, Will described his songwriting technique as creating a series of sketches, choosing to develop further those that embody a captivating idea. It is a methodology that is evident when listening to his EP, and also prevalent in his latest single, “Brave Man”. The skittering percussion that introduces the tune is accentuated by an erratic guitar pluck, creating an almost disorientating aura, and Will's delicate vocals act as our guide through it, confidently chaperoning us along the musical disarray he's so meticulously crafted. If, like us, you love the new single, then be sure to visit again LANKS' Thousand Piece Puzzle EP, which, aside from our pages, is still available via his Bandcamp.
