In the very short amount of time we've been listening to ZHU, it's been apparent that the guy's heading towards big things. His packaged deal of vocals and production is first-rate, and as we see here with his official remix of Lana's lead-off single to Ultraviolence, "West Coast", it's in top shape again, ready to further his own artistic future. With a ready-to-come-alive, dance-injected beat, ZHU manages to make the star singer's sound share the spotlight with his own, and that's no easy task. The original was a bit dim-toned on its own, but it's even more shadowy here with ZHU's iconic sonic mystique pervading the track. Energy abounds, and grandiose instrumentations come to coat the aphotic atmosphere all around Lana's dissected lines. Truly overcast-sounding, the remix is, and it's another intriguing chapter in ZHU's continual ascent to prominence. [via The FADER]
