The last couple of times Hippie Sabotage paired up their production work with a popular female vocalist, the response was overwhelmingly positive, and to say that their flip of Tove Lo's "Habits" was a surprise hit might just be the biggest understatement of 2013. This time around, though, the two California-based producers (and brothers) have taken on the queen of indie-pop herself, Lana Del Rey, and the remix looks like it just might be their biggest piece of work yet. Lana's voice floats above the grungy beats they provide with a sense of effortlessness that's truly awe-inspiring, and when the production work ebbs and flows with the builds and drops, you're greeted with a song that's not only subtle in execution, but posses a polarization of layers that you don't often hear. Hippie Sabotage has nailed down a unique style of sound delivery that's vaguely lo-fi while still hard hitting, and when they mix that in with the ultra crisp vocals of somebody like Lana Del Rey, you can't but help but get excited as you listen to two very different music worlds collide into one huge amalgamation of reworked awesomeness. The brothers have been quite sparing with their releases since their recent rise to prominence, but this latest offering is every bit as good as its predecessors, and it will continue to build buzz for them as each subsequent body of work becomes more and more of an event worth watching out for.
