Music To Watch Boys To

We're inching closer to the release of Lana Del Rey's third album, Honeymoon, and fans are anticipating this LP as the return of Born to Die-era Lana. Today, she shares with us "Music To Watch Boys To," the third full track after "High By The Beach" and "Terrence Loves You". The track, which premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1, is a brooding, yet shimmery ode to yet another lover. Though focused mainly on her ethereal vocals, the single is stepped with electronic influences similar to the style of her recent collaborator, The Weeknd. Throughout the song, her harmonies and synthesized vocals swell over piano, strings, electric guitar riffs, and electric drum kits as she sings coyly, "I like you a lot, so I do what you want". The song is pure melancholy blended with the feeling of starting a new love—a theme and voice not unfamiliar to her work. For fans who have watched Lana over the years, "Music To Watch Boys To" pays homage to the style Lana created on Born to Die with elements taken from the Dan Auerbach-assisted Ultraviolence. For those who are just delving into her catalog, however, know that she still impresses here with the now-popular but hard-to-perfect sound. Honeymoon is out September 18, and you can pre-order it on iTunes right now.
