Well, it appears that Street Fighter isn't the only thing on LAKIM's mind these days, despite his well-documented grievances pertaining to the game. He's been wrapping up an upcoming album as well, which has us excited, naturally; and though it'll be his first substantially sized body of work since Esoteric back in 2012, This Is Her promises to be as intimate as anything he's ever released. Of course, an album isn't much nowadays without anticipation about it, so earlier in the day the VA producer dropped off the first single from his forthcoming work, "Need Want". And though it's only been out for a couple of hours now, it's already seen substantial buzz in and around the music blogosphere, though it's not particularly difficult to see why. The instrumental exudes that classic LAKIM sound, that retro-futuristic electronic that you'd imagine someone like George Jetson tripping to at some club up in the clouds, and a plethora of crisp percussive inclusions and tight vocal sampling ensures "timelessness" as one of the chief qualities of the track. We're confident that This Is Her will succeed if the elicited vibes spill into the LP, too, and we cannot wait until its February 25th release date.
