As we continue to ramble on about how Australians are tearing the future-sounding music scene apart, it’s more than gratifying to stumble upon a duo that has distinct aspirations in comparison to their contemporaries. La Mar is such a duo, and the Sydney-based individuals seem to connect on a whole new level, evident almost instantly on their inaugural piece entitled “Anchor”. There's nothing overly assertive about the effort, simply because of the rich soul influence portrayed, and that helps it emerge in its superb fashion. The vocals on the track seem almost too effortless, too, and along with the smooth company of some deep basslines, acoustic drumwork, and raw analog synths, “Anchor” creates a flavor we crave here at HD.
