It's always refreshing to find a song that can be pinned in the "electronic" genre that is absolutely nothing like the rest of the electronic songs out there. Kyson's latest single "How Long" fits the bill of electronic tracks that are somehow different in their sound and their execution - the track is synthy in a way, but with a hazy feel, a sense of tightly layered pieces moving together that are greater than the sum of their parts, which adds a warm, eerie feeling to the production. Kyson's vocals are unobtrusive and more of an afterthought, as the song sets one of the most atmospheric tones we've heard in quite a while. The track is a doozy coming in at 6:22, but you never once find yourself clock-checking or skipping ahead - the song dips down and builds back up over a slow and deliberate progression, only to wane and wax again closer to the end, and I've caught myself with my eyes closed, head saying nothing but "yes, damn it, yes" a few times through.
