Technically, this isn't Kwane's first appearance on HillyDilly. It is, however, the first time we've posted a song with him as the main artist, and, to our knowledge, "Into The Gray" is actually the first song that he's ever officially released, so this is, in a way, his HillyDilly introduction. Having almost no information released about himself, the rapper is essentially a mystery. However, with a little help from the magic of Google, we discovered that Kwane is listed in the credits of Beyonce's new album, specifically for contributing to the background vocals of "Haunted". We can easily assume that he made this appearance because of his connection with BOOTS, who had a hand in producing Beyonce's album. So, although his first release, Kwane does not at all sound like a freshman to the game on "Into The Gray". His flow is effortless, his style is original, his wordplay is brilliant, and all of the excellent attributes are obviously apparent on his debut offering here. The aforementioned BOOTS knows what he's doing when it comes to production, and with piano keys and a mellow drum kit, guitar strums, and pumping bass, he's formulated an ideal beat to showcase Kwane's style on the track. In addition, Margot's (another artist unknown to us) soulful vocals create just about the best R&B chorus a rapper could ask for, too. As a result, "Into the Gray" shows loads of promise from all involved, and it also made us very curious about what BOOTS and his associates have in store for the future.
