Control

We've seen the emergence of several instrumental labels in the past year, each eager to prove their tastes, their talents, and the artists on their rosters, and, surprisingly, the majority have been able to bring some sort of acclaim to their collectivist agendas. Flow-Fi, one of the freshest to come alive in recent times, has remained steady with releases over the course of their young artistic upbrining, utilizing a slew of creatives including kuma to paint serene soundscapes and sincere vibes, and it's with that artist in particular that we come to bear the collective's latest effort, "Control". The smooth, downtempo instrumental, a collaboration between the aforementioned kuma and Telescope Thieves, incorporates a whole host of elements to get its sonic point across: depressed synths, manipulated R&B loops, driving percussion, and sprinkled bass, among others. The atmosphere comes together in an unusually downtrodden energy, one as brooding as potentially inspirational, and it'll be up to those listening to determine which half of the song's energy speaks most persuasively to them. Regardless the side seen, "Control" stands as an awesomely dramatic track, and it definitely deserves play on account of its sheer emotional mystique.
