It's hard to pass on a track that features well-placed sound bites from Office Space, but even if you aren't a fan of the movie (we're not sure that's possible), there's still plenty here for you. King Green, the man behind the musical endeavor known as "Nothing", has only been putting out material for a month or so now, so he might not be a familiar face yet, but his music is solid, and his command of the English language is on full display on the track as he waves his way through its beat with clever sentence structure and a rather large vocabulary. The beat employed is a solid fusion of rock, rap, and experimental hip-hop, but it's the way King Green's voice works with the sonic backdrop that's the true high point. Too often, rappers don't take into account what their voice sounds like when crafting a signature sound, and the results can be disastrous. King Green seems to avoid all those pitfalls, and "Nothing" surely speaks to his deftness for beat exploitation. As we said before, we don't know a lot about King Green yet, and his career as a rapper is still just getting off the ground, but make no mistake—the guy is for real. It doesn't really matter what your normal musical tastes are—this is one of those songs that will get pretty much everybody bobbing their head, and when the beat cuts out so that Lawrence can tell you what he'd do with a million dollars, you can't help but laugh and enjoy the song for what it is. It's a rather tongue-in-cheek approach to the genre it falls within, but King Green makes it work, no doubt.
