Wesley Marsh and Jason Carr (Kill Them With Colour) have seen their fair share of HD posts over the past several months, and, of course, their dazzlingly diverse sound is to blame for that. The guys always seem to pull a new creative aesthetic out for all subsequent productions of theirs, and it's kept their craft fresh, funky, and always inspiring. "Always Somethin", their latest, is no different in that regard, but it's especial hulking elements that lift it above and beyond their usual efforts (at least, according to our ears). A relatively simple, sustained, and sonically suspenseful sample leads the charge on "Always Something", and bubbled synths and light drums aid the anticipation before an absolutely hulking, brass-brandished drop engulfs the entire spirit of the track. The inclusion is really a force to be reckoned with, and its sharp, dark edges offer an interesting and somewhat opposed dynamic to the aforementioned elements. It works, despite the obvious sonic differences, and a pleasurably big (pause) sound emerges as a result. With Wesley and Jason calling the shots behind the track, we'd expect no less, but the latest of theirs here really solidifies their status as artists not to take lightly, no matter the realm of their sound.
