Everybody loves to put their two cents in discussions about the enigma that is Kid Cudi. Some say he put out one good album and should get back to rapping, some like to pick out his "good songs" while disregarding the rest, and some absolutely love everything that he touches. Regardless of your opinion, though, there's one fact about him that should be respected, and that's that he primarily cares about being an artist. After the incredible successes of both MOTM I and MOTM II, he pissed off many by putting out a rock album, something that he wanted to do for himself as an artist, no matter the reactions received. With that said, Satellite Flight certainly stays consistent to his controversial trend, and while the EP is not necessarily our favorite of his, "Balmain Jeans" and "Too Bad I Have To Destroy You Now" emerged as tracks we were particularly intrigued by. Within the latter and more impressive of the two, Cudi embraces some of his old style; he channels his God-given flow to craft verses that almost sound as if they could appear somewhere in the mix of the first MOTM. The piece is sprinkled with enough intergalactic material to remind you that it's still a part of Satellite Flight, however, and while we wish the elicited vibe would've remained for the rest of the EP, we're happy he blessed us with the track at all, and with it, the ongoing legacy of his esoteric self.
