The expectations are sky high with Cudi's sophomore album that follows up one of the best debut albums I have ever heard. Cudi spoke of wanting to make this album a more positive upbeat album but found that during the recording process he was struggling to write those types of songs due to the head space he was in. It has been well documented that he has been struggling with drugs and dealing with the life change he has gone through in the last few years. MOTM2 is even more mellow and darker that his debut. Cudi recently just publicly made it known that he is tired of rapping and sadly it really does show on this album. I do not get a sense of enthusiasm or inspiration from listening to this album at all. From my perspective it seems Cudi is just on cruise control. I am actually at a loss of words and am actually a bit sad. I love Kid Cudi but this album does not reflect his true potential as and artist and human being.
