We've come to know Khai through collaborations with select producers in the past, but recently (and rather swiftly), we've seen the vocalist emerge with his own solo efforts building up to the release of his debut EP, If You. It's been over a month since we heard the soul-etched, memorable number, "Do You Go Up", that gave us a taste of the direction the artist was heading in, and now on his project here, he cracks open his artistic core. New efforts on the body of work include "If You" and "In Void", and we're digging both the shades of soul-inspiration throughout, and also the vibrant, percussive-heavy production as well. The awaited, CYN-assisted track, "Take", is one that particularly stands out, too, and the two singers on it exchange verses in their ever-endearing tones. If You is a telling first work for the artist behind it, and though it is always anyone's guess if the quality inside will bleed into those that come after, Khai here does seem poised to be heading on an impressive sonic path. We're certainly looking forward to what we comes out with next.
