Ever since he debuted just a few months ago, Brooklyn-based artist Kevin Garrett has been creating quite some buzz for himself. After performing his own work for years, the Pittsburgh-native just recently singed to Roc Nation and is now ready to kick off his career with an incredibly solid debut EP. Mellow Drama is a gorgeously soft, strikingly soulful project that, besides being simply euphonic, drives home one point in particular: Kevin Garrett has a big career ahead of him. Kevin's music combines the most tasteful elements of both traditional and new pop, and though the production behind him is brilliant, his vocals are clearly in the spotlight here. "Come Up Short" and "Never Knock" showcase his emotional lyrics atop fairly authentic instrumentation, and if you enjoy more a more electronically oriented sound, then be sure to check out "Pushing Away" and "Control".
