If you don't know who Kele is, you might be more familiar with Bloc Party—a highly successful British band that's been around for about a decade. Kele has been the lead singer for the group ever since its inception, but over the past four years, he's been putting out some additional material under his own name. And while his work with his band typically falls somewhere in the indie-rock spectrum, he likes to dabble in the electronic-dance category on his own, and he does so brilliantly on his brand-new full-length album, Trick. Kele comes out of the gate strong with the introductory track, "First Impressions", a smooth house offering that features deep synths, some fresh percussion, and vocals from the UK songstress, Yasmin, in addition to Kele's own. In the next song, "Coasting", Kele reveals a bit of a darker side to his electronic-dance by including heavy bass beneath his alluring falsetto, and after that, he lets loose a certified house banger in "Doubt", another brilliantly dark dance effort. We're encouraging you to check out the whole of Trick if you've the time, but in the event that you'd like to skim off the top, check out favorites below.
