Kat Vinter, a Berlin-based, Australian-born songwriter aided by producer Hannes Buescher, contributes greatly to the burgeoning case for female electronic artists on the up-and-up around the globe. Her tertiary release here, “Downtime”, strikes us exceptionally alluringly, and her creative charisma glows through the effort. In it, she stirs numerous, infrequently heard sounds that, piece by piece, come together to embody something truly special. Last week, we showcased the work of Canadian artist Kassandra Nunes with her “Show Me Love” that snagged our attention with similar synths and pounding bass. Now, we’d like to boast equally about our more recent find here, as “Downtime” contains a plethora of layers, each one meticulously mastered to play its unique role in the production. We can’t overlook the vocals, either, as they act as a bridge between the many partitions heard—some more electronic-based, and others with a rumbling hi-hat and rasped kicker hits that are tastefully paired with xylophone-evoking notes. With the ongoing influx of electronic-pop, any artist who makes the cut on HD is, needless to say, ahead of the game as far as talent goes, and Kat Vinter does just that with her effort here—thoroughly impressing and inspiring us to suggest that you give it a listen with no doubts that you’ll be in for something praiseworthy.
