Karma Kid — Bird of Prey

Karma Kid

Bird of Prey

Sam Knowles (Karma Kid) has been on hot streak for a while now, churning out solid remixes and original content like nobody's business, but it's only when you realize that he was born in 1994 that you're truly able to grasp how accomplished this guy is now, and will be in the future. Having tracks that consistently generate massive traffic, and a sound that's not only catchy, but refined as well, is pretty much a prerequisite for any successful artist regardless of their age, but it's not quite common for all the young talent trying to make their mark. Karma Kid does have these things, though, and it only makes this newest single, "Bird of Prey", so much more fun to listen to. Like a lot of Karma's other work, "Bird of Prey" brandishes its allegiance to the house genre with pride, but like a lot of his innovative contemporaries, there's much more that meets the eye (or ear) at first listen. The beat is methodical and keeps the underpinnings of the song on an even keel all the way through, but that only gives Sam more license to get a little wild with the influences on the upper sound registers. There are bits of brass notes subtly sprinkled through the mix, and the jazz and soul influences are ready and waiting for you to enjoy if you listen close enough. "Bird of Prey" is everything we've come to expect from the young phenom, and it's only going to further his status as a fixture in the world of electronic music. Purchase the track on iTunes now.
