Kanute is the musical collaboration between the vocals of Rachael Gray and the production of Rob Overseer. Both being relative newcomers, this is most likely your first time hearing about them, but have no fear, because this is no shameless plug. Their music is heavily rooted in electronic and pop, but the assumed sound of the two genres is not found here at all. Rob Overseer's production is larger than life; it incorporates contemporary elements, and yet it dips into a little bit of drum & bass with other experimental sounds. Through the wide-open space that Rob invites, Rachael Gray is allowed to sit front and center throughout this impressive sophomore effort. It's not too often you come across a band that is beneath the radar of most, while still managing to possess a sound that pushes beyond the scope of where they currently sit at. So to best facilitate Ursa Minor to you, we have our highlights outlined for you below, but if you wish to hear or purchase the album, head on over to Bandcamp to do so.
