The title track from Kamp!’s two-track release, A New Leaf, pushes the limits of indie-pop by dipping its feet unabashedly into the electronic realm. The tune, nostalgically continuing a pattern of stellar original music from the Polish group, surely provides some sonic diversity, and that’s really what caught us in our inaugural run through the track. A plethora of instrumentations are employed to exhibit a sense of complexity that’s not easily found in the quintessential indie-pop offering, and dancing layers of distorted electric guitar and synths are filled in by a steady percussion backbone. “A New Leaf” pairs well with the latter track on the offering, “Satansbratan” to produce an electronic-tinged experience that stems from the work of raw and diverse talent meticulously applied. The two-track single play teases us by giving us a look into the more mainstream music that’s sure to come from the group, but until that fruit bears itself, we’ll be enjoying the two efforts listed below.
