We had no idea who Kamikaze was before we found their Beta EP, but the internet is full of hidden gems and undiscovered sounds that go unnoticed often, so it's nice to know that these guys will be on our radar in the future. In the meantime, though, you have to listen to their most recent crop of tracks. The sound on them is definitely experimental in nature, but that's not to say that it's not catchy, too; the music will resonate with a wide variety of music aficionados, undoubtedly. "Crestfallen" and "Tomorrow" are in close contention for what we would call the best single on the list, but the really interesting thing is that each song is so different from the next; if it weren't for the vocals, there would be nothing to really tie the project together stylistically. In this instance, however, it's not a bad thing at all. In fact, Kamikaze's willingness to put out a wide range of sounds probably means they're more interested in making interesting music than they are pandering to a certain fan demographic. If you're a fan of beat-driven music, then the aforementioned "Crestfallen" will be your jam, but if you're in the mood for something slower and bigger, then head straight to "Tomorrow". The subtle use of bagpipes, and the layers upon layers of huge sound opens up the track in all the right ways. However, if something more analog is your speed right now, you'll find a favorite in "Parallels" or "The Gaze". These two sound almost nothing like the first pairing, but they're solid in their own right, and they'll make even the most discerning of indie-rock fans happy.
