Kai Straw's "Hurricane" is the standout track from his most recent body of work, and, though we've seen other efforts in recent times match it on the soulful front, none possess the downtempo experimental vibe that this does. Kai's emotional, soul-drenched tone is showcased well by the dreamy and stretched synths used, and, as the track progresses, we hear some explosive parts added as well it. There is, additionally, a rawness evident that we don't often see used in genres here, but, though unexpected, it is stimulating all the same. "Hurricane" hopefully forecasts a vibe we'll come to see from the San Francisco-based artist here, but, even if it doesn't indicate any direction he is to go, it'll still stand as a noteworthy piece that's equal parts contemporary and innovative.
