Here’s another sparkler entitled “Latenight Munchies" from the Red Bull compilation, Not For Sale, and it’s the result from the teaming up of three talents: the soulful, nostalgia-inducing vocalist, Kahdja Bonet, and producers rj and Mark Maxwell. The piece itself is one that represents a clean sonic experience, and you’d expect nothing less with the systematic approach Maxwell and rj employ. Classic chillwave chord progressions set the tone for Bonet’s vocals, and those are eventually bolstered by hollow, groove-filled basslines that set an incredibly buoyant cadence throughout. Australian-native Maxwell and Berlin-based talent rj peacock their sonic adeptness for over five minutes on the piece, and surprisingly, there’s not one tiring moment within the entire instrumental. Los Angeles singer Bonet manages, too, to effortlessly glide through the differing bass notes in an incredibly stylish manner, and her part surely adds to the mellow vibe of the piece.
