I've come to expect great things from every new DIE HIGH release I come into contact with, and though I've a personal philosophy never to expect anything from anyone, ever, I can't help myself when it comes to the works of the Australian label. The first track I had heard from the camp was as impressive as anything I'd heard over the course of the year, and ever since that fruitful audio encounter some months ago, I've been unable and unwilling to stray from all content they've shared. Jacob Grant's (Just A Gent) beautifully boisterous "Dusty" instrumental is the latest offering from the Aussie group, and it's every bit as lush as the creations it's followed. Jacob is only sixteen years of age, and the fact that he's put together as extravagant a sound as that appearing on and in "Dusty" is just beyond me. I know I've commented many times on the impressive works pieced together by teens, but this is special. The enthralling effort begins with a somber violin clip, and is proceed seconds later by some foreboding bass that hints at the dynamic elements which are to ensue. A steady bit of percussion follows into the sonic fray, preparing for what gorgeous synth comes next. And at this point in the effort, we've a lush musical medley to marvel at as much as listen to. It's seriously spectacular, and the beautiful vibe only amplifies in attractiveness as the effort unwinds.
