If you're looking for a new name to get excited about, then look no further than J Tropic's. We don't know too much about the producer (we still don't know who his featuring vocalist is either), and since this is one of his earliest ever releases (we'd his seeming debut, "Love Up", posted four months ago), we'll just have to let the music speak for itself. Ordinarily, that'd mean that the stakes are higher for the artist, because, without any hype or name recognition, the music is most vulnerable to an objective review. However, in this instance, it's exactly what's needed, because "Solid Gold" is a fantastic track form start to finish. Without any fluff getting in the way, J Tropic is going to have a great impression to build off of as listeners will remember the song as something both high-quality, and fun to listen to. The music itself sits pretty squarely inside the world of R&B, but there's plenty of other influences at play also, so even if first impressions of "Solid Gold" lead you to believe that it's purebred music, its heritage is actually much more diverse. There's an upbeat tempo on the track has a decidedly tropical feel to it, and the bright sounds that counteract the rolling bass hits are the perfect way to really balance out the song. Top top it all off, the vocals featured here are some of the more accomplished we've heard in a while, and could be easily compared to other big names like Seinabo Sey and Mapei. As a result, "Solid Gold" is going to be big, certainly, and even without the hype that will most definitely accompany subsequent tracks by Tropic, this song will itself go down as a big success.
