Josef Salvat — Shoot and Run

Josef Salvat

Shoot and Run

Josef Salvat was one of our favourite new artists of 2013, but as far as seeing him in 2014, the vocalist has remained dormant. It's been nine months since we last heard Salvat on "Every Night", and we can only assume he's been hard at work on either a debut album, or his next EP (reported by Disco Naivete to be titled In Your Prime), because breaking the hiatus is his brand-new track, "Shoot and Run" that's been released today. There's no official news of a forthcoming project along with the release, but this new effort is perhaps signaling a new sound for him, as "Shoot and Run" is easily his biggest-sounding song to date. Accompanied by huge, scaling orchestral strings and goose bump-inducing percussion, Josef finds himself in the midst of a heroic tale spun by instrumentation that makes you feel like you're on top of Mount Everest. But rather than letting the huge sound take over the vocals, Josef's pierce through the mix and fire out in triumphant fashion. With not much of a warning of this song's release, it's safe to say that it's going to speak for itself in the coming weeks when people get a grasp of how incredible it truly is. Stay tuned for more from Josef Salvat, too, because you know there's more music like this on the horizon.
