Duckie's Lament

We had to delve pretty far back in time for this one, but it looks as if it never really took off like it should have, so ignore the fact that it's been slept on for about a year now, and listen with fresh ears. Jonathan Bree is a New Zealand-based artist who crafts vintage rock tunes that fly in the face of what's hot at the moment. In fact, while everybody else is all over R&B, this guy decides the best course of action is to pose in black turtlenecks and make music that's so blatantly inspired by the Beatles that we'd have a hard time attributing his sound to anybody else. That being said, though, we're stoked he's doing it, because "Duckie's Lament" is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise suffocating room of drum machines, flashy production work, and loads of reverb. There hasn't been a ton of other activity from this guy since he released his album, but we'll continue to be keeping an eye on him, since we're always up for some off-the-wall music.
