We last heard from joan on their debut single, "take me on", an upbeat indie-pop anthem that answered the question of what the HAIM sisters would sound like if they were born boys (the answer is, of course, pretty darn good, which is why they're featured here). Today, the group from Little Rock has returned with a new single, "love somebody like you", and it is the perfect follow-up to their debut. On it, bandmates Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford continue to hone their updated '80s aesthetic with a song directed at the uneasiness of unrequited love, and, beginning as a slow jam before its exploding chorus, "love somebody like you" just sounds like an MP3 version of your favorite John Hughes classic, giving newness and nostalgia we love.
