Although he still hasn't released an official EP or album yet, JMR isn't exactly the new guy on the block anymore. His music has captivated a rather large group of music lovers who have an appreciation for quality tunes that have both bucket-loads of pent-up energy, and plenty of depth. Songs like "Doesn't Feel Human" and "Closer" are slow-jam specimens of the first order, and with each and every release he's set the bar higher and higher. With this success, however, comes higher expectations, and certainly, there's always the danger that the hype may grow too fast and his music won't be able to keep up, but "Shivers" has proven once again that JMR's got plenty of gas left in the tank to stay abreast of the ever-growing demand for more material of his. The song itself is a little bit more R&B-centric than his other stuff (although, admittedly, it's really hard to put a label on any of his songs), and it's a bit more smoothed out as well. The background textures have been added to fill in the silence that could often be found in his older work, and while we still absolutely love those first couple of releases, this new direction is showing off his versatility perfectly. We'd love to see a nice balance of styles embedded in his EP or album, and with songs like "Shiver" in his back pocket, we're confident that'll be the case.
