It's not too often a song can literally suck the air out of a room, but what we experienced four weeks ago on JMR's solo debut, "Pioneer Of Your Heart", was simply magnificent, and especially so at the three-minute mark. Now back to follow up on that initial offering is his second single, "Closer", that not only rivals "Pioneer Of The Heart", but equals it in every pleasurable sonic aspect. Like a leaf afloat in a gust of wind, the vocals of JMR do not go against the grain of the entity they're a part of, namely, the massive electronic that's employed on the effort. Rather, they go with the direction of the bustling power that exemplified in the production, and, ultimately, an extraordinary blend of raw, industrial-like sound (with the aforementioned agile vocals) flourish. If JMR keeps this up, there's no reason why he can't be one of 2014's biggest surprises. We'll be waiting for his debut full-length, American Hell, to turn that possibility into a reality, and while we wait for it to arrive, we'll be wrapping ourselves in his wonderful effort listed below.
