Creating an original sound in this heavily saturated industry can prove for many artists to be a real challenge; poor vocal performances can be manipulated and tweaked, popular synths copied and pasted into every other track. Despite this, artists and acts such as Chet Faker and Sylvan Esso sometimes emerge to craft out their own niche sound, garnering huge amounts of support. Now doing that is London's Jimi Charles Moody; whose his pursuit of his own niche can already start to be heard in the powerful, "The Other Man", his second-ever track. Moody pushes forward gravelly, gritty lyrics with his thick voice, carrying a message of pained love. The backing instrumental adds further to the emotional drive of the song, marrying soulful piano chords to delicate synths, and a growling mournful bass. With only one other track to his name, these are early days for Moody, but positive ones indeed.
