Jetlag — Walk With Me ft. Esther

Jetlag

Walk With Me ft. Esther

Renato Márquez is 29 years old, and Miguel Fernandez is 23. Together, they're Jetlag, and if we're being honest, their unique combination of skills (they've got both classical experience, and a penchant for modern production software wizardry) is the perfect blend of old and new. In a world where bedroom producers are leveling the playing field with nothing but laptops, it's the more refined skills—like violin-playing—that sets artists apart. Jetlag has these skills at their disposal, and their track with Esther called "Walk With Me" is notable not only for its silky smooth finish, but because we're hearing a lot of sophisticated piano chords, and old world instrumentation on it, too. This particular mix of the modern and antiquated, if done right, will never get old for us, and, to be sure, we were fans of their track the moment we heard it. Esther's voice is perfectly suited for the relaxed tempo the two provide, and when Renato and Miguel join forces on the big choruses, all the little bits and pieces of sound coalesce into one big wall of music that's backed by quick-moving textures—effectively turning the song into a force to be reckoned with. Renato and Miguel have been putting out music for about two years now, and it's highly probably they've been honing their craft for much longer that that, so with that in mind, the song's subtlety shouldn't come as a surprise, but it should definitely win you over if you were at all on the fence about the two.
