We first became believers in Toronto's Jessie Reyez last month via Tim Suby's "k goodnight", a track Jessie is prominently featured on, that has since amassed half a million streams on Spotify. It was (and continues to be) the perfect culmination of clever, relevant songwriting, captivating vocals, and ear-catching production, and we're glad to see that she's back in top form again here. The astonishingly raw "Figures", a comparatively stripped-back, acoustic piece, marks the bold introduction of the prolific songwriter's solo career, which has been a main priority of Jessie's since she can remember. Lyrically, she epitomizes the height of vulnerability, and this is aided by unmistakable, lovable, and highly memorable idiosyncratic vocals that will soon have her pegged as one to know.
