We often emphasize the importance of an artist's debut single as it can initiate an early following of fans and also set a precedent for that artist's sound. Miami-based songstress Jess Nolan seems to have known this, as she's kicked off her career brilliantly with her mellow debut effort, "My Love". Jess coasts through the track with her sensual croon—one that litters occasional high notes throughout, but remains calm and soulful overall. As brilliant as her vocals are, though, the production here from Brooklyn duo Noise Club (who co-produced kp's debut, "Where Did You Go") provides her with an incredibly fertile sonic environment with which to work from. The instrumental makes use of soft synths, silky guitar plucks, and a primarily relaxed drum kit; however, a few trap-oriented percussive nuances put an ingenious twist on the delicate sound. It's seriously safe to say that Jess has debuted wonderfully with "My Love", so be sure to keep an ear out for her upcoming EP. If it's anywhere in the ballpark of this effort here, she'll be on her way to the spotlight in no time at all.
