Jean Dawson is doing something genuinely strange and it keeps working. "KIDS EAT PILLS*" blends distorted guitars with melodic chaos in a way that doesn't feel borrowed from anywhere obvious. The asterisk in the title feels right. Experimental without being indulgent, emotional without telegraphing it.
