It's pretty common for us to stumble upon random producers with one or two post-worthy instrumentals, but they usually aren't capable of constructing a great EP in entirety, unfortunately. Jaytee is a total outlier from this trend, however. The Australian producer has loads of experience in the world of music, but the majority of it has been vested in live performances or assisting other acts, and, as a result, it hasn't been until now that the individual has come across our radar. Thankfully, we've discovered his new Cold Blue EP, and it's a project that absolutely cannot be ignored. Cold Blue is a complete showcase of Jaytee's talent and innovation in the realm of beat-making. We could go on forever about this EP, but instead, we will just touch upon a few of the many awe-inspiring aspects. Jaytee possesses a remarkable ability (as displayed in the title-track) to pull his carefully formulated wave of sound very far away, and then he smoothly crashes it back down in a vivid array of bass and percussion. The usage of vocal chops throughout the entire work is notably superb, and they're never overly apparent, amazingly, but instead used as another instrument. Subtle touches of piano and guitar, provided by Gareth Hudson, contribute to the depth of the project, while brilliantly utilized percussion hold the tracks together.
