When your song is being shared by budding R&B stars like MNEK (especially after a year has passed since any new material of yours has surfaced), you know you're doing something right. London and Brighton singer JaJa Kisses, therefore, has much to be excited about as far as her art is concerned, and surely, it's easy to see why the former artist shared the latter's second-ever released track on SoundCloud not long after it was uploaded (maybe the two have knowledge of each other outside the sphere of the internet?). In any event, it's a similar allure each artist conveys with their own brand of sound, and while the latter up-and-comer's is R&B through and through, it's so with bass-infusions and an electronic undertone that, while seen before, really pushes her sound to this glamorously trap-like space that we haven't. We can chalk that up to the cool and controlled production Flowzart provides, as his lines of synths, punching bass, and myriad inclusions throughout bolster excellently Kisses' tone, but really, it's the individuals in tandem that make "PIMMS" stand out as something not only listenable, but engaging on account of its calculated sonic reaches within the genre. And while it's far too soon to know if this is JaJa's targeted sound, or just a feeler for future projects, let's hope that the kind of sonic energy encapsulated here by the two manages to find a way out into the masses sooner rather than later.
