Over the past few months, the one-man army that is Jack Garratt has generated some well-deserved buzz with two downright poignant releases in “Water” and “I Couldn’t Want You Anyway“, and now, he takes his electronic endeavours to new heights on his latest gem entitled “Worry”. Garratt seems to have embraced the genre-bending approach on the piece, with a distinct take on soul and some heavy electro synth inclusions to elbow a rather buoyant vibe. His vocals don’t quite require a foreword, either, especially as they draw you instantly to awe by the brilliant accompaniment of luring plucks and gentle drums. The unexpected then arrives when the track decides to stop on a dime (well, a cymbal) for the chorus to dive in, an inclusion propelled by vintage electro-saw synths, a raw bassline, and subtle inclusions you’d notice only on a second listen. The effort see-saws gorgeously between the chorus and the two verses, and an eventual hook takes over, with Jack exploiting the rhythms with his plush vocals, pushing the piece effortlessly to its immaculate state.
