Jack Garratt — Chemical

Jack Garratt

Chemical

After going from strength to strength in 2014 following a number of quality releases showcasing an exciting blend of songwriting and forward-thinking productions, Jack Garratt has the raised the stakes with his brand-new single, "Chemical". A dark and unapologetic love song, there’s an urgency and tension here that instantly captures the attention, and it's one culminating in a heavy electro chorus that allows Jack’s falsetto to soar. Almost as impressive as the climactic chorus is its transition into a far more subdued section that's led by a rich acoustic piano that wouldn’t sound out of place in a Nina Simone song, and that’s the most satisfying thing about "Chemical", and for that matter, all of Jack’s releases to date—his bold genre-hopping work that's executed always with striking clarity. It’s exciting to hear when artists take risks like this, but it’s even better to hear them come off properly. Jack Garratt has proven to be the master of that. Be on the lookout for Jack's new EP, The Synesthesiac, on April 12 through Island Records ("Chemical" will be appearing on it), and before that on March 23, know that we have our first-ever show with music label and show promotion company Communion Music in Brooklyn, New York, where can catch Jack playing at Baby's All Right. Get your tickets for that and some more background information on the artist HERE, and make sure you do so before all the tickets get gobbled up.
